FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions.

What services do you offer?

I provide individual counseling and group support focused on the emotional wellbeing of individuals during pregnancy, postpartum, and early parenthood. Services are designed to support people navigating life transitions, stress, anxiety, mood changes, and the emotional adjustments that can occur during the perinatal period.

Who do you work with?

I primarily work with individuals who are pregnant, postpartum, or planning for pregnancy. My practice centers the experiences of women and birthing people, with a particular commitment to supporting Black maternal mental health and individuals who have historically had limited access to culturally responsive care.

What concerns can therapy help with?

Therapy can support individuals experiencing:

  • Postpartum depression or anxiety
  • Pregnancy-related stress or overwhelm
  • Birth trauma
  • Difficulty adjusting to parenthood
  • Relationship or family stress during the perinatal period
  • Identity changes during pregnancy or postpartum
  • Grief or loss related to fertility or pregnancy

Do you offer in-person sessions?

Yes. Sessions are offered both in-person and virtually.

Do you accept insurance?

I do not currently accept insurance. I can provide a superbill that may allow you to request reimbursement from your insurance company.

How long are therapy sessions?

The initial intake session is typically 60-75 minutes. Ongoing individual sessions are typically 60 minutes.

How often will we meet?

Most clients begin with weekly sessions. As progress is made, sessions may shift to biweekly or monthly depending on your needs and goals.

What happens after I submit the contact form?

Once you submit the contact form, I will review your inquiry and respond within 1–2 business days. If it appears that my services may be a good fit for your needs, we will schedule a free 15-minute consultation.

What is the benefit of virtual therapy?

Virtual sessions are conducted through a HIPAA-compliant, telehealth platform, Sessions Health, allowing you to access care from the comfort of your home.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes. Therapy is confidential and protected by privacy laws. There are a few legal exceptions to confidentiality, such as situations involving risk of harm to yourself or others, or cases involving abuse or neglect of a child, elder, or vulnerable adult. These policies will be reviewed during your intake process.

What can I expect during the first therapy session?

The first session is known as the intake session. During this session, we will review important information such as confidentiality, your reasons for seeking therapy, and any current challenges you may be experiencing. I may ask questions about your personal history, emotional wellbeing, pregnancy or postpartum experiences, support system, and what you hope to gain from therapy. This session is also your chance to ask questions and share what feels most important to you. You do not need to prepare anything in advance.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you are unable to attend a session or need to reschedule, please make sure you communicate this at least 24 hours prior to your appointment. Otherwise, you will be charged a $75 late rescheduling or cancellation fee. This fee also applies to no-show appointments.

Do you offer a sliding scale rate?

I recognize that financial circumstances can sometimes make it difficult to access mental health care. A limited number of sliding scale spots are reserved for individuals who may benefit from a reduced fee due to financial hardship.

What is your payment policy?

Payment is due at the time of service unless otherwise discussed. For your convenience, I use a secure, HIPAA-compliant client portal through Sessions Health to manage billing and payments.

Accepted forms of payment include major credit cards, debit cards, and HSA/FSA cards. Clients may securely store a card on file, and automatic payments may be processed following each session if authorized.

I do not accept cash or checks.

All payments are processed through a secure, encrypted system to protect your privacy and financial information.
