Supporting you through one of life’s most transformative seasons
Hi there! I'm Di'Aundrea Thomas, owner of Perinatal Insights. I’m a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in South Carolina and a licensed clinical mental health counselor (LCMHC) in North Carolina. I obtained both my Bachelor's in Psychology and Master's in Counseling and Development from Winthrop University. I am perinatal mental health certified (PMH-C) through Postpartum Support International, and I specialize in supporting individuals during pregnancy, postpartum, and the many emotional transitions that can come with becoming a parent.
My passion for perinatal mental health is deeply personal and rooted in my belief that no one should have to navigate the emotional challenges of the perinatal period alone. While this season of life can bring joy and excitement, it can also come with unexpected stress, identity shifts, and emotional overwhelm.
I created this space to provide compassionate, culturally responsive support for people who need a place to process their experiences honestly and without judgment.

My Therapeutic Approach
I believe therapy works best when it's a collaborative partnership. This means that while I bring clinical training and therapeutic tools, you are the expert of your life. Rather than telling you what you should do, my role is to help guide conversations, ask thoughtful questions, and offer evidence-based tools that support your growth and healing. You are always encouraged to share what feels helpful, what doesn’t resonate, and what you would like to focus on during our time together. I'm there to create a safe and affirming space for you to share your experiences, emotions, challenges, and desires without fear of judgment.
I draw from several evidence-based therapeutic approaches while remaining flexible to meet your unique needs. Therapy may include exploring patterns in your thoughts and emotions, developing tools to manage anxiety or stress, and creating space to process difficult experiences such as birth trauma, relationship changes, or the adjustment to parenthood.
Person-Centered Therapy
This approach focuses on creating a warm, supportive environment where you feel heard, respected, and understood. I believe meaningful change begins when you feel comfortable to speak openly and explore your experiences in a bias-free space.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
CBT helps us explore the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Together, we may identify patterns that contribute to stress or anxiety and develop practical strategies to support healthier thinking and coping.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
ACT focuses on learning how to navigate difficult thoughts and emotions while staying connected to your values. This approach can help you build psychological flexibility and move toward the life you want to live.
Interpersonal Therapy
Relationships and life transitions often play a major role in emotional wellbeing. Interpersonal therapy helps us explore relationship dynamics, communication patterns, and the adjustments that come with major life changes such as pregnancy or becoming a parent.
Compassion-Focused Therapy
This approach emphasizes developing self-compassion and reducing self-criticism. Many people are especially hard on themselves during challenging life seasons, and learning to treat yourself with greater kindness can be a powerful part of the healing process.
Life Outside of Therapy
When I’m not working with clients, I enjoy slowing down and doing things that help me recharge and stay grounded. The things I enjoy include spending time with family and friends, listening to R&B music, reading romance novels, trying different restaurants, immersing myself in other cultures through traveling, and building lego sets (the botanicals collection is my favorite).
